PGA Tour Props: Odds on Which Players Will Win a Major in 2018

Jordan Spieth plays a shot during a practice round prior to The Memorial Tournament Presented By Nationwide at Muirfield Village Golf Club on May 29, 2018 in Dublin, Ohio.

Winning a major is considered the crown jewel in any professional golfer’s career, and when you factor in that there are only four events a year, it’s a huge accomplishment once you have one under your belt. Just ask Sergio Garcia.

Garcia finally got the monkey off his back when he won the 2017 Masters in his 74th attempt at a major. The triumph was the first major victory of the Spaniard’s career after the 37-year-old finished in the top 10 on three separate occasions at Augusta National (2002, 2004, 2013). Garcia now owns the most career all-time top-10s in majors.

First-timers are getting the job done on the big stage

Since the 2015 PGA Championship, there have been a ridiculous nine first-time major champions (Jason Day, Danny Willett, Dustin Johnson, Henrik Stenson, Jimmy Walker, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed and Garcia).

So, which players are going to come away with a victory on golf’s biggest stage in 2018? MyBookie has released odds on the occasion, which you can find below.

Can Tiger Woods finally end his major drought?

On the oddsboard, the biggest name that sticks out is Tiger Woods at +700. With the conclusion of the U.S. Open (and a back-to-back performance from Brooks Koepka), it’s been exactly 10 years since Eldrick won his last major. But Woods has played his best golf in quite some time over the course of the last few months and has been in contention more often than not by finishing 12th at the Honda Classic, T-2 at the Valspar, T-5 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T-11 at The Players Championship.

The third major of 2018, the British Open, gets underway from July 19-22 at Carnoustie Golf Links in Angus, Scotland. For a full breakdown of the tournament, check out my betting preview.
