Stanley Cup Odds: Golden Knights The Faves to Go All the Way

Odds to win the 2018 Stanley Cup and Betting

After an unprecedented run through the Western Conference, the Vegas Golden Knights are the betting favorites to win the Stanley Cup.

Vegas is listed at -135 to make history and become the first expansion team to hoist Lord Stanley’s trophy in its first year. The Knights started the season listed at +20000 to win it all and now sit four wins away from making advantageous bettors a boat-load of money.

The Washington Capitals finally made it to the finals after years of coming oh so close before eventually collapsing. Though the Capitals bring a red-hot goaltender and a consistently producing offense into the finals, they are +115 underdogs to the Knights.

OddsShark has got you covered for NHL Stanley Cup playoffs betting analysis and predictions from puckdrop of the first game to when the captain of the winning squad hoists the Stanley Cup.

The NHL trade deadline has passed and after some last-minute deals, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Vegas Golden Knights share the top spot on the oddsboard as +600 favorites to win the Stanley Cup.

Online sportsbook Bovada has had Tampa Bay near or at the top of its list since the puck dropped back in October and the Lightning currently have the best win-loss record in the NHL. Vegas is right behind Tampa in the overall standings and the value that existed with the Golden Knights opening at +20000 is all but gone.

Here are some risers and fallers on the odds table that you should be paying attention to.

RISERS

Philadelphia +2800

The hottest team in the NHL, the Flyers are 9-1 SU in their last 10 games and have leaped over the Capitals for top spot in the Metropolitan Division. Led by Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, scoring has never been an issue for this squad but their defense has been excellent lately, holding teams to 2.31 goals per game in February. The only knock on them may be goaltending as starter Brian Elliott is on IR until the end of March and backup Michal Neuvirth is also out with a lower-body injury.

Pittsburgh +700

It’s hard to believe that sportsbooks were offering Pittsburgh’s odds around +1800 near the end of December. Fast-forward two months and the Penguins have been the highest-scoring team in the league in both January and February. This scoring surge has launched them to third in the Metropolitan Division as Pittsburgh aims for its third Stanley Cup in a row. Adding more depth at center with Derick Brassard doesn’t hurt either.

FALLERS

St. Louis Blues +2500

The Blues have taken a tumble recently that has dropped them out of the playoff race in the Western Conference. At 3-7 SU in their last 10 games, fans and analysts thought St. Louis would be a buyer at the deadline in an attempt to bolster the offense. Instead, the Blues dealt their second-best center and sit five points back of Minnesota in their division. The clock may be ticking on their window of contention.

New Jersey Devils +4000

The Devils are doing everything they can to remain in the playoff hunt. They acquired Michael Grabner and Patrick Maroon at the deadline and are ready to make a push in the final leg of the NHL season. One of the main reasons for their recent decline, however, has been goaltending as Cory Schneider remains on IR with a groin injury. If he isn’t back to 100 percent, it could be trouble in New Jersey.
