Brazil is the odds on favorite to win Group G, which has been called the Group of Death, but they are not a lock to make it out with the very strong teams of Portugal and Ivory Coast in the group.

Brazil is in a tough group, but they recently surpassed Spain as FIFA’s top-ranked team in the world and their national team has never lost when playing in Africa (8-0).

One of the reasons they may have a tough time getting out of their group is the fact that the other Group G teams will sit back on defense and those are the types of teams Brazil has trouble with.

Brazil also has a solid defense and great goalie in Inter Milan’s Julio Cesar.
Since Brazil plays a wide-open game they tend to have problems when they play teams that stack the defense in order to thwart Brazil’s scoring chances. That is big this summer, as the teams facing Brazil will do just that. Brazil is also not the best passing team in the world and they rely on lot on long runs.
Head coach Dunga did well in the qualification process, but does not have much big match experience. Nothing less than another World Cup title will be seen as a disappointment.
Brazil has the squad to go all the way, but they have to figure out how to score on teams that drop back on defense for most of the match.
The Brazilians will be favored in every group match and their one against Portugal is a big one with the solid defense they have. This match is the last one for both in group play and the winner will likely win the group.
