World Cup: Germany Preview
Germany is the big favorite to win Group D and make a run to the finals, but they have not had a great record in the recent past against elite teams.
Germany is not in a tough group facing Serbia, Ghana, and Australia even though all the teams in Group D are ranked in the top 35 in the world.
Bovada has Germany at +1200 to win the World Cup and at -133 to win Group D.

Germany should make it out of their group unless they really play poorly, as Serbia may be the only team in the group that can give them any trouble.
The Germans came in third when they hosted the World Cup in 2006 and overall they have won the prestigious title three times, been the runner up four times, have come in third three times, and fourth place once.
Germany was only one of four teams in Europe that went through the World Cup qualifying with an undefeated record.
Motivation and team play is the strength of the German squad and while they do not have the star-studded squad they have had in the past they still have a good chance to go all the way. They have a great midfield with Michael Ballack of Chelsea and Mesut Oezil of Werder Bremen and if they control the midfield and the time of possession in their matches they will be tough to beat. Bayern Munich’s Miroslav Klose has 48 goals in 98 career games for the German squad and he will be counted on to lead the offense.
There are no real glaring weaknesses for the German squad and while they tend to beat the teams they should they have had trouble against elite teams. They will have to change that if they make it out of group play, which they should.
Head coach Joachim Loew uses the same tactic that 2006 coach Jurgen Klinsmann, but he has showed that Germany is going young and left off many players, such as Torsten Frings, that are not in their “team first” mindset.
The Germany vs. Serbia match may be the big one in the group, as the winner of that match may win the group.
