Catch Croatia’s Best Moneyline Price in the Group Stage Vs Nigeria

If you’re looking for good betting value in the early days of the 2018 World Cup group stages, then Croatia vs Nigeria in Group D action on June 16 is a great candidate for you. Loaded with good betting value up and down the oddsboard, both teams feature recognizable talent while one, Croatia, has potentially loftier expectations than a group stage win.

Online shop Bovada is currently offering Croatia at -115 in moneyline markets with Nigeria coming back at +355 and the draw at +245. The posted total is at 2 with OVER -140 and UNDER +115. In spread betting, Croatia is a half-goal favorite at -125 with Nigeria at +105 as +0.5 dogs.

Bet on the 2018 World Cup here

  • Croatia topped Greece 4-1 over two legs to qualify in a playoff.
  • Nine of Croatia’s last 10 games in qualifiers finished UNDER 2.5.
  • Nigeria won CAF Group B with 13 points in six games to qualify.

Croatia sits 10th on the board in odds to win the World Cup at +3500, which is pretty good value for a team of this caliber. I wrote Croatia’s 2018 World Cup preview for the site that you can find here, but in short, this team is loaded with star players. The midfield features some of the world’s best (and potentially THE best in Luka Modrić) and the attack is a good one that features Juventus’ Mario Mandžukić and Inter’s Ivan Perišić.

Croatia played fantastically in the Euro 2016 group stage before the wheels fell off against eventual champion Portugal in the knockout round. This edition of Croatia could potentially be even better and even has a pretty good shot at winning Group D at +275.

The 2018 World Cup will be Nigeria’s sixth appearance since its first at USA 1994. Of their five trips thus far, they’ve escaped the group stage three times (1994, 1998, 2014) and certainly have the capability to score a Group D upset in Russia.

The Super Eagles feature quality players like Chelsea’s Victor Moses, Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi and Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi and will be blistering in counter-attack. Manager Gernot Rohr has the team firing on all cylinders and it even scored a 4-2 win over Argentina in a friendly back in November.

Favorite Bet for Croatia vs Nigeria

There is a lot to like about this Nigeria side and they will prove to be a worthy opponent but the price on the simple Croatia moneyline at -115 is just too good to pass up. There is a lot of value no matter what your wager is here, but for me, Croatia at this price has the potential to be a gift in the early days of the group stage.
